Essential Functions

  • Perform safety related duties as outlined in the Flight Attendant Safety Manual including safety demonstrations, in-flight announcements and responding to a broad range of in-flight situations
  • Consistently deliver friendly and approachable customer service through the serving of beverages and snacks, and the selling of Air Canada products, onboard meals, amenities and duty free articles
  • Display a caring disposition and treat each customer as an individual
  • Anticipate and respond quickly and pleasantly to our customer needs

Qualifications Required

  • Safety conscious
  • Must accept assignment at our Toronto In-Flight Service base
  • Possess a valid Canadian passport
  • Minimum age – 18 years
  • High school graduation diploma or equivalent
  • Able to meet our medical standards
  • Able to obtain Transport Canada’s Security clearance
  • Well groomed and self confident
  • Must successfully complete our eight week initial training program in Montreal or Toronto (For temporary and summer vacancies, must be available for training beginning of May)

LINGUISTIC REQUIREMENTS

Priority will be given to candidates completely fluent in Canada’s official languages, English and French. Candidates fluent in English or French and one or more of the following languages will also be considered:  Japanese, Korean, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Italian, German, Arabic, Hebrew, Portuguese or Greek.

DIRECTOR, PATRON SERVICES

2010 has been an exciting year for TIFF that has been marked by the opening of TIFF Bell Lightbox, our new home and the world’s premiere centre for film.  This year continues to produce excitement as new programming is offered in TIFF Bell Lightbox.  We are seeking a highly motivated individual who wants to be part of a new era in Toronto’s cultural history.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Operations & Production, the Director, Patron Services will be responsible for the overall management of our front line operations including ticketing, retail, concessions, front-of-house and information services. The Director, Patron Services will exhibit strong leadership and vision in the development and implementation of effective procedures, systems, and strategies to ensure a welcoming FOH environment, providing consistently unique and superior ticketing and audience services, and maximize profitability in the areas of retail and concessions.

Responsibilities:
Shall include but not be limited to:
• Oversee the Ticketing, Front of House, Retail and Concessions Operating and CapEx budgets
• Develop and execute a diverse, high-quality Visitor Experience Plan including a strong staffing programme for recruitment, training, managing and scheduling
• With the Retail & Concessions Manager, develop and execute a multi-year Retail and Concessions Plan to maximize profitability in both operations
• With Retail & Concessions Manager, collaborate with Programming and Marketing departments to promote the TIFF brand, and develop marketing initiatives to drive audience procurement & retention as well as retail & concession sales
• Oversee vendor procurement, management, and financial reconciliation for all related suppliers and service providers
• With Assoc Director, Theatres, develop and manage Front-of-House operations (including cinemas, coat check, gallery, and other patron services); assume leadership role in emergency situations.
• With Senior Manager, Audience Services, deliver on a Visitor Experience Plan that promotes ticket sales and exceptional patron servicing including providing prompt and accurate information as well as diplomatic and timely resolutions to patron issues
• Other duties as assigned.

Hire, train, schedule and manage all key Patron Services staff:
• Provide training on related job requirements to fulfill responsibilities especially in the area of Visitor Experience
• Ensure orientation to job and department
• Provide coaching, mentorship as needed
• Set and communicate tasks and standards and expectations
• Provide direction and support in effectively delegating tasks to staff and volunteers where appropriate.
• Assist in identifying professional development and job related goals
• Promote internal (HR 360) and external training opportunities
• Build performance through delegation and teamwork
• Provide regular feedback through the use of weekly/biweekly/ monthly meetings
• Update job description(s) for staff in January
• Conduct review meetings and Setting Tasks and Standards in January

Start Date: January 24, 2011

Minimum Requirements:

• At least five (5) years previous experience successfully managing a similar operation; hospitality degree an asset
• Experience in ticketing, front-of house management, audience services, retail and concessions business
• Exceptional project and people management skills
• Well developed verbal and written communication skills
• Dynamic and outgoing personality with sound judgment and discretion
• Professional manner and “can-do” attitude, with the ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly to change

Reporting to the Director, Information Technology, this position is responsible for implementing the new ticketing process and system for the organization.
Responsibilities:
• Direct and manage project development from beginning to end.
• Develop full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
• Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders
in a timely and clear fashion.
• Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
• Draft and submit budget proposals, and recommend subsequent budget changes
where necessary.
• Determine and assess human resources needs in conjunction with Human Resources team and oversee recruitment during project cycle.
• Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other
stakeholders.
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
• Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.

• Experience in leading large projects spanning across departments.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, the Senior Publicist will develop and execute tactical publicity plans for TIFF Programmes (including but not limited to Special Events, Learning Initiatives, Partner Festivals, Special Guests and Community Outreach), as well as maintain and enhance the organization’s reputation with the media through proactive outreach.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and execute tactical communication plans for TIFF Programmes that reflect the organization’s vision and mission. Includes setting critical paths, project management, and measuring and monitoring outcomes
• Generate press coverage for TIFF Programmes as outlined in each calendar period
• Develop and maintain relationships with members of the local, national and international media
• Write, edit, and circulate press releases, media information packages and other communications materials (including FAQs, key messages, letters and correspondence, as required)
