iGnite – community youth group held a BBQ party this past Sunday to mark the end of the 2013 summer.
The get together was a good success and youth and young adults had fun.
iGnite was initiated by the youngsters of Prayer Stone Peoples Church, Faraz Saleem & Wilfred Bernard and was setup to bridge the generational gap between first and second generation immigrant families, their tradition and culture. The duo understood the need to retain family, religious and cultural values amongst second generation Pakistani Canadian youngsters.
Since inception, just a few months ago, the group has come a long way. With its ability to attract youngsters from the community the group collected $1500 to help the victims of Badami Bagh in Lahore, within 24 hours.
It also used internal resources and man power to organize ice skating, pizza party and networking events. Besides the secular programs the group meets every 3 weeks for Bible Study. They have addressed topics around Faith, Passion of the Christ conducted by Samroon Robert and Cecil Pervaiz and will continue to address topics as required by its members.
The next upcoming iGnite event is scheduled for Friday, Sep 13th at 6:00pm. If you wish to be a part of the group and are between the ages of 13-29 feel free to get in touch with Wilfred Bernard at (416) 829-2098.
